Check out my lovely new idea for the Chaumière - an art studio!
I’ve decided to make the large landing into an Art Studio. Actually not just decided, I’ve gone ahead and done it! What used to be a big bedroom without a door is now an Art Studio complete with easel, drawing table, trolley and bookcase. Carpets that it doesn’t matter if they get paint on them although I think I will be providing some sort of protection for them - the carpets are more there to protect the traditional chestnut flooring. There’s still a bed but its become a sofa bed although the default state is a single I can, given a bit of warning, turn it into a double but that would rather compromise the art studio so that would more be for people who weren’t interested in having a space set aside for them to do their artistic thing in a wonderfully lit space out of the way of normal house hubbub.
I realised that whenever I stayed in rental accommodation previously if I wanted to do some art I had to make do with the kitchen table which isn’t really ideal especially if you have a masterpiece in progress and have to clear up your stuff so people can eat dinner!. Clearly I’m not providing the materials; guests would have to bring their own and I would have to warn them that art supply shops in the area are a bit basic. Of course, since I do watercolours I can help out in that area, in fact, come to think of it, I could even offer lessons if anyone wanted them.
Anyway I’m really excited about this new development I just need to find a way to advertise it - surprisingly AirBnB actually have a box you can tick for an art studio - maybe find some artist websites, associations etc Lol I’m even considering advertising in the Lady!!!
The great thing about this space is that with very little effort on my part it could be some other space that people might like to find in their holiday accommodation. I have equipped myself with a buddha and yoga mats and although I haven’t got around to dressing the room up the potential for it being a yoga studio is rather nice - with the same idea that usually if you want to do yoga and can’t (or would rather not) go into the garden for your bit of Zen you usually have to clear a space in front of the tv!!!
Haha the more I go on with this Gite adventure the more I realise that I’m really just trying to make my perfect holiday spot!!!
